While the Tourism Authority of Thailand aims to attract Saudi and Australian tourists to Phuket, it also set a target of 3,000 Indian tourists daily.
The Tourism Authority of Thailand intends to reach this goal via different advertising programs and unique travel incentives. TAT asserts that wedding tourism has been more popular among Indian travelers to Thailand, and it now wants to host 400 wedding-related activities this year. Approximately 300 Indian weddings have already been scheduled for this year, most of them in Phuket.
Thanakorn Wangboonkongchana, a government spokesperson, said that Indian tourists might generate up to THB 22.5 billion in income for Thailand. 100,884 Indians arrived in Thailand between January 1 and May 24 of this year, making them the largest group of tourists in the Kingdom.
Most of the tourists in Phuket are from India, Australia, Singapore, the United Kingdom, Russia, Germany, Malaysia, the United States, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates.
This report follows the Tourism Authority of Thailand’s announcement last month that it intends to target “wealthy tourists” as it formulates a marketing strategy to restore Thailand’s tourism industry now that travel restrictions are gradually eased. The Tourism Authority of Thailand claims that focusing on “wealthy groups” could produce THB 1.93 trillion baht by 2024, despite the fact that the number of tourists will be lower than in the past.
Yuthasak Supasorn said that the Tourism Authority of Thailand will promote Thai tourism using new methods such as Thailand’s “soft power” (low-key, indirect promotion through media and influencers). He expected the Thai tourism sector will recover quickly.
These past few weeks, TAT has unveiled plans that target every tourist destination globally. The Tourism Authority of Thailand visited the Netherlands, Belgium, and France to promote Thailand.
