The Amazing Thailand Culinary City is developed in line with the Thai government’s Bio-Circular-Green (BCG) Economy Model. This creative economic plan, known as the AGFEC model, stands for Agriculture, Gastronomy, Food Safety, Experience, and Creative Entrepreneurship, and it aims to foster a sustainable economy while promoting social and environmental development.
The ‘Amazing Thailand Culinary City’ is designed to engage both businesses and consumers. It’s intended to bring together entrepreneurs within the culinary tourism industry, facilitate business partnerships, and elevate the global recognition of Thai cuisine across the country’s diverse regions.
As part of its business engagement strategy, the program will host the ‘Amazing Thailand Culinary City’ event alongside the Thailand Travel Mart Plus (TTM+) 2023, taking place from May 31 – June 2 at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center in Bangkok. Here, 30 gastronomy tourism businesses will showcase their offerings through City Dining Experiences, Farm to Table showcases, and Culinary Cooking Activities.
Visitors will have the opportunity to taste dishes from various participating restaurants, engage in Thai pastry-making workshops, and experience traditional Thai massage, among other exciting activities. The event will also highlight internationally acclaimed Thai dishes and undiscovered “Hidden Dishes” from across the country.
The event will host talks by well-known food blogger Mark Wiens and Chef Thitid ‘Ton’ Tassanakajohn, whose Bangkok restaurant Le Du was recently ranked first on Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants 2023 list. They will discuss how gastronomy can boost tourism and the potential for expanding gastronomy tourism.
On the consumer side, regional culinary events titled ‘4 Locations: 4 Styles’ will take place across Thailand’s four regions in May and June. These events, featuring regional culinary entrepreneurs, will offer cooking shows, workshops, and exhibitions showcasing the diversity and potential of Thai cuisine, as well as the opportunity to savor the delectable local food.
During the program launch, a panel discussion was hosted with Michelin-starred chef Mr. Vincent Thierry and popular food blogger Ms. Wisa Wangsupachart, offering further insights into the world of Thai gastronomy.
For those planning to visit Thailand, the Thailand Elite Visa offers a range of benefits, including ease of long-term stay, expedited immigration services, and access to exclusive experiences, ensuring that you can fully immerse yourself in the rich and diverse culinary culture that the ‘Amazing Thailand Culinary City’ program aims to highlight.
