Good news for travelers planning to go to Thailand. Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok will double the number of check-in counters to prepare for the expected influx of tourists. Approximately 70,000 travelers per day are anticipated to arrive in Bangkok with that number expected to increase up to 100,000 per day during the peak season.
Kittipong Kittikachon, general manager of Suvarnabhumi Airport, addressed the media yesterday that the airport anticipates the arrival of around 440 international and domestic flights every day. Domestic flights is expected to reach 200 per day, while international flights are scheduled to land 240 times per day. Kittipong added that 70,000 travelers would come to Bangkok as a result of these flights, including 28,000 local and 42,000 international tourists.
The latest report from Suvarnabhumi Airport expects an increase in travelers during Thailand’s peak season, beginning in October. The airport management estimates that the daily number of passengers might exceed 100,000. To prevent congested airports, he has urged each airline to open check-in counters three hours before flights.
Kittipong said that the number of check-in counters had been expanded to 318, with 196 self-check-in machines and 42 self-baggage loading counters on standby. He assures travelers that Suvarnabhumi Airport had improved the restrooms inside the passenger terminals, security checkpoint, and passport control desk.
This month’s projected opening date for the west side of the passenger terminal is now undergoing renovations.
