Starting June 16, 2023, Hong Kong Airlines will launch direct flights to Phuket.

To meet the increasing demand from tourists traveling to Thailand, Hong Kong Airlines will operate 4 weekly non-stop flights between Hong Kong and Phuket using an Airbus A320 aircraft.

Hong Kong Airlines will operate direct flights from Hong Kong International Airport (HKG) to Phuket International Airport (HKT) four times a week, departing on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays at 8:20 pm and arriving at 11:05 pm.

On Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, flights in Phuket will leave at 12:05 am and land at 4:50 am in Hong Kong.

Hong Kong Airlines believes that the new route would strengthen and increase accessibility between Hong Kong and other popular regional places, along with the airline’s new direct route to Fukuoka, Japan, which begins the following week, on April 7, 2023.

AirAsia, Hong Kong Express, and Cathay Pacific all operate daily flights on the new Hong Kong–Phuket route. While all airlines offer competitive pricing, AirAsia’s fares are often the most affordable.

According to Hong Kong Airlines, the new route would “further utilize Hong Kong’s accessibility as a regional center in Asia to address the demand for international transit and tourism in the Asia region.”

Passengers can purchase tickets for the inaugural Hong Kong Airlines flight on the airline’s website for a one-way fare of THB 8,730.

Last week, Bangkok Airways disclosed intentions for a direct route between Hong Kong and Koh Samui “at some point this year.”

In December, Cathay Pacific expanded flights to Bangkok to a maximum of four per day, and in January, it restarted service to Chiang Mai. Hong Kong Express, a subsidiary of Cathay, offers 22 weekly flights to Thailand.

China Airlines subsidiary Tigerair Taiwan will commence direct flights between Phuket and Taiwan’s Taoyuan International Airport (TPE) in May.
