The Tourist Authority of Thailand issued the SHA Plus certificate to more tourism-related companies in Phuket after the first awarding last June 12, 2021.
The introduction comes just months before Phuket’s much-anticipated tourism reopening on 1 July 2021, when the Phuket Sandbox program will allow inoculated visitors to return without undergoing quarantine.
“The increasing number of SHA+ certified companies in Phuket delivers a powerful and reassuring message to foreign travelers who are expected to return to Phuket once the Sandbox program is started on 1 July.” And that message is one of confidence that Thailand places a premium on the safety and well-being of all tourists.” Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn stated.
The Amazing Thailand SHA certification provides a vital safety net in the country amid the current COVID-19 crisis since it covers mixed-use businesses to cater to all. At the moment, 1,389 venues and companies throughout Phuket have been awarded the Amazing Thailand SHA certificate. There are 882 in accommodations, 169 in food and restaurants, 157 in travel-related companies, and 181 in other areas.
TAT Governor Mr. Yuthasak said, “The SHA+ certification shows that a company not only follows the necessary hygiene and safety measures for COVID-19 prevention but also has at least 70% of its workers fully inoculated.”
Over 460 companies are now SHA+ certified, and this figure is growing as all SHA approved businesses are urged to apply for SHA+ certification.” The awarding of the SHA+ certification to qualified restaurants further highlights Phuket’s status and reputation as a world-class culinary attraction.
