The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) supports New Year celebrations and countdowns as scheduled as long as the government does not order to cancel the event.
Governor of the TAT Yuthasak Supasorn stated that the TAT has yet to be notified that an order of this kind is pending, despite the fact that several provinces have opted to reduce their countdown celebrations this year.
He added that they would organize its own New Year’s Eve celebrations in Bangkok and Hat Yai to thank those who have worked tirelessly to promote tourism in the aftermath of the Covid-19 pandemic
The Amazing Thailand Countdown 2023 will include free performances by Thai and Malaysian performers, a lighting projection installation, fireworks, and a unique strolling street in Hat Yat which will be held at the pier next to Wat Phra Chetuphon.
The TAT governor said that an average of THB 72,000 incoming tourists each day in December might contribute to an expenditure of THB 26 billion baht during this time. As of the 20th of December, inbound travelers had spent THB 10.9 million baht.
According to Thapanee Kiatphaibool, deputy governor for domestic marketing at the TAT, hotels in Songkhla are currently completely booked, with almost 80% of the rooms occupied by Malaysian visitors. Approximately 1.8 million Malaysian visitors are now in Thailand.
Pattaya is still counting down to the New Year. However, there will be no fireworks extravaganza on December 29 to 31.
