The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has signed 3 new deals to strengthen tourism ties with South Korea companies such as the Korea Association of Travel Agents, Korean Air, and SOOBAK.  TAT hopes to improve the number of tourists visiting the country and strengthen friendly ties between Thailand and South Korea.

The governor of the Tourism Authority of Thailand, Yuttasak Supasorn was in Seoul, South Korea on Monday when he signed the Memorandum of Cooperation and Memorandum of Understanding with 3 Korean organizations. He said that the latest deals between the 2 countries will benefit tourism promotion.

“These new tourism partnership agreements, which precede the Visit Thailand-Korea Year 2023-2024 will be advantageous to Thai tourism. They will assist the TAT in positioning Thailand as a year-round destination for Korean tourists, especially among millenials, Gen Z, women traveling alone, honeymooners, incentives, luxury, and long-stay golfers”

The TAT signed a Memorandum of Cooperation with Korean Air that will open more flights to the country and establish additional flight routes to Thailand. Korean Air’s flexible scheduling from the USA to Thailand through Seoul provides an additional chance to attract more American tourists.

On the same day, the TAT signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Korea Association of Travel Agents in order to improve communication and information sharing. Together, they will monitor market trends, discover emerging markets, share the last news within the industry and promote tourism between Thailand and South Korea.

SOOBAK will collaborate with TAT on developing technologies concentrating on NFTs. They will seek methods to use NFTs and other technologies to establish a new tourism ecosystem and enhance the sustainability of Thai tourism.

It is expected that these 3 new partnership deals between Thailand and South Korea will significantly increase the number of South Koreans traveling to Thailand next year. Tourism officials expect that there will be around 500,000 travelers from South Korea by end of 2022. Their goal is to welcome 1.1 million South Korean tourists visiting Thailand next year.
