The Thai e-visa system has been upgraded, making it easier for travelers from across the world to apply for Thai visas.
The Foreign Ministry has been assigned to develop the e-visa system so that it can accommodate the demand.
Trisulee Trisaranakul of the Foreign Ministry said that the ministry had been instructed to improve the capacity of the Thai e-visa system so that it can provide the same level of service to travelers from other countries.
The infrastructure was initially designed to accommodate a larger number of international arrivals, and this is expected to increase further when the Chinese government allows tour groups to travel to 20 countries starting February 6.
e-Visas and visa on arrival have made it much simpler for travelers to enter Thailand. The Immigration Bureau will be in charge of visas on arrival, while the e-Visa system will be managed by the Foreign Ministry.
The e-visa system enables foreign individuals to submit visa applications and copies of their passports online rather than through a Thai embassy or consular office in their home country. After their application has been granted, travelers get an electronic visa stamp that they can print and provide to airlines and immigration authorities.
Aside from e-visas, there are several kinds of visas that are accessible. Tourist visas, business visas, and investment visas are the most popular. Applicants for non-immigrant visas may also apply for ED visas for study, O visas for visiting relatives and friends, and F visas for government or diplomatic travel.
Long-term resident visas and long-stay visas can be granted online. While smart visas and other diplomatic visas will be available through the Thai e-visa system. Approved applicants will get their e-visas through email. Applicants who want to use the Thai e-visa system may do so at https://www.thaievisa.go.th
