Pattaya City and the Tourism Authority of Thailand scheduled an event titled “Thailand Tourism with SHA” that will start from December 17 to 19 on Pattaya Beach. Thailand Tourism with SHA will include merchants and activities with the goal of inviting tourists to visit Pattaya. A project that will be supported by the city’s recent decision to approve alcohol in establishments.
SHA is a certification permit that business establishments must apply for and have as proof that they adhere to the health and safety standards set by the government to prevent the spread of COVID-19. An SHA Plus grade is given to businesses that follow stricter criteria like all employees are fully vaccinated.
The event’s main objective is to increase tourist revenue and generate cash for local business operators while highlighting the health and safety standards set by the program, titled “Amazing Thailand Safety and Health Administration.” Local officials said they want to raise awareness of the SHA program. Still, most tourist arrivals to Thailand are expected to stay at least 1 night in a SHA+ certified hotel, ensuring that international guests are aware of the program before visiting the country.
In addition, the event is intended to give awareness on Thailand’s present status of tourism and the SHA program, with zones dedicated to promoting SHA goods and popular tourist destinations. The event will include typical tourist mainstays such as exhibiting Thailand’s world-famous food with local chefs and renowned chefs, as well as cultural performances, music, and local goods.
The Deputy Director of the TAT’s Pattaya Office met this week with the Deputy Mayor of Pattaya City to discuss the plan for Thailand Tourism with SHA. The event will adhere to all COVID-19 health and safety measures and will take place in Pattaya Beach each day from 4 pm to 9 pm from December 17 to 19.
