Thailand is now preparing to welcome its ten millionth foreign tourist arrival this year on December 10, Saturday and will be celebrated at 7 airports and 2 land border controls.

Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) governor Yuthasak Supasorn said that the “Amazing Thailand 10 Million Celebrations” initiative would celebrate the achieved goal.

“As of the 5th of December, Thailand has recorded 9.78 million foreign tourists this year. We expect that the 10 million foreign tourist will arrive on December 10.  The Tourism Authority of Thailand has urged partners to join the campaign to celebrate this accomplishment and show that the country is prepared to welcome international tourists”

This coming Saturday, souvenirs will be distributed to all tourist arrivals at 7 international airports in the country.  These are Suvarnabhumi, Phuket, Samui, Chiang Mai, Don Mueang, Krabi, and U-Tapao, along with 2 border control in Sadao (Songkhla) and Nong Khai.

Yuthasak also announced that there would also be a raffle draw event with special prizes at Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi Airport.

TAT established the goal for foreign tourists as part of its “‘Visit Thailand Year 2022-2023: Amazing New Chapters” initiative, which objective is to reestablish tourism after Covid-19 and restore Thailand’s status as the best global destination in both short-haul and long-haul markets.

However, this year’s Thai tourism earnings is still far from their goal of THB 1.5 trillion baht which is set at the start of 2022.  The TAT has set the objective for 2023 at 2.38 trillion baht.
