Yesterday, following the weekly cabinet meeting, PM Prayut Chan-o-cha informed the media of the government’s decision to suspend TM 6 immigration form.
The TM6 form is the arrival/departure card foreigners fill out with their passport information, name, residence, and other personal information when entering or leaving Thailand.
Traisuree Traisoranakul, Deputy Government Spokesperson said that the suspension of the TM6 requirement will ease immigration procedures and alleviate congestion at immigration checkpoints.
The government did not specify when the measure will take effect, although it is likely to take around one week.
Traisuree said that this move has been implemented since the number of foreign arrivals has increased over the last two months and found out that completing the TM6 form and Covid-19 checks causes delays at airport checkpoints.
Traisuree added that the government might acquire the data from foreign arrival/departure through a biometric system and information from tour agencies and airlines.
