Thailand Travel Mart Plus (TTM+) 2022 features “Amazing New Chapters” in Thai Tourism.

The Thailand Travel Mart Plus (TTM+) 2022 officially opens in Phuket and starts on June 10, which centers on Thailand’s transition toward stronger and more responsible, and sustainable, tourism growth in accordance with the marketing campaign ‘Visit Thailand Year 2022 – 2023: Amazing New Chapters’.

Governor of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), Yuthasak Supasorn, said, “Thailand is celebrating the full  tourism reopening on June 1, 2022, when entry requirements are relaxed. As a result, this year’s TTM+ gives ther perfect opportunity for buyers and sellers to expand upon current business ties and establish new ones. Over the course of 3 days, the Tourism Authority of Thailand and tourism-related businesses will display “Amazing New Chapters” to attract international tourists to visit Thailand.”

As part of the TAT’s plan to promote Thailand’s provincial areas, the TTM+ was moved to Chiang Mai in 2016 – 17, Pattaya in 2018 – 19, and Phuket this year after having been hosted in Bangkok since its inception in 2001. This year’s TTM+ drew 276 customers from 42 countries and 264 merchants from 4 areas of Thailand. In addition, over 90 local and foreign media outlets are present at the event.

The TTM+ 2022 has been organized to highlight travel goods, services, and experiences that promote Thai cultural values in accordance with the theme “from A to Z, Amazing Thailand has it all.” And, in accordance with the TAT’s’smart tourism’ strategy aimed at improving Thai tourism’s competitiveness, the event will showcase digital transformation that currently plays an important role in propelling Thailand’s tourist ecosystem towards sustainability and quality.

Registration, pre-tours buyers and journalists, opening ceremony, TTM Talk, Thailand Product Update, speed-dating onsite appointments, and a welcoming reception kicked off the event today.

The pre-tours comprised 3 routes that emphasized Phuket’s natural and cultural attractions. The ‘Eco-Adventure and Fishery’ route toured local farming of pearls, fish, lobster, and sea grapes, whereas ‘The Last Rice Field of Phuket’ itinerary took participants to experience organic farming and buffalo conservation, and ‘The Moken’s Life’ program introduced Urak Lawoi’s ways of life and Phuket’s religion.

The event will be formally launched in the afternoon by PM Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, Thailand’s Minister of Tourism and Sports, followed by 3 keynote speakers delivering a TTM Talk titled “Global Tourism: Shaping the New Chapter.” Ms. Rahimah Abdulrahim, Director of Public Policy for Southeast Asia at Meta, will introduce the first session on the topic of ‘Metaverse Possibilities of the Tourism Industry and Beyond.’ Ms. Mich Goh, Head of Public Policy for Southeast Asia, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and India at Airbnb, will introduce the second session on the topic of ‘Driving Inclusive Tourism Recovery in Thailand with Airbnb.’ Mr. David Boehm, Co-founder, and Chairman of Mis

TAT Deputy Governor for Marketing and Communications Mr. Siripakorn Cheawwamoot will then address buyers and journalists on the Thailand Product Update prior to a speed-dating session for buyers and sellers.

During the Welcome Reception, the ‘Amazing New Chapters’ display will reiterate the Royal Thai Government’s policy to promote the kingdom’s soft-power foundations, including Food, Film, Fashion, Fight, and Festival. Contemporary and futuristic performances will be featured throughout the evening, coupled with Phuket’s culinary pleasures.

The 2 full days of buyer/seller appointments are set for Thursday, June 9, and Friday, June 10, together with a networking lunch on both days and a networking dinner sponsored by the Phuket Tourist Association on Thursday.

Throughout the three days, the TTM+ 2022 is also highlighting unique tourism-related products from 5 selected companies, including Tlejourn Shoes – recycled shoes made of ocean debris, Souvenir from the Sea – recycled bags and totes made of trash, Clothear – Thai batik clothing, Nara by Natipong – accessories made of Nora beads, and Sudjai Silver – niello ware. The Tlejourn Shoes and Souvenir from the Sea kiosks offer DIY workshops. In addition, kitchen stations demonstrate how to prepare native Phuket delicacies.

The TTM+ 2022 will be hosted at Angsana Laguna Phuket beachfront resort, which is a part of the Laguna Phuket integrated resort. The event has been organized in compliance with the health and safety procedures outlined by the Ministry of Public Health in order to avoid the spread of COVID-19 and all participants are requested to follow these preventive measures at all times. All travelers from overseas must complete all processes stipulated by Thailand’s entry requirements.
