As the volume of passengers at 6 AoT airports increases, the “Sawasdee by AoT” app, which provides airport and flight information, will be turned into a super-app that offers a wide variety of tourism-related services.

The company anticipates that app downloads will increase from 650,000 to 1.5 million next year and 4 million in 2024. The mobile app is an Airports of Thailand (AoT) project.

Sky ICT’s chief marketing officer, Kayon Tantichatiwat, expects that the number of international visitors will reach 20 million next year.

Mr. Kayon said that the volume of total passengers at AoT airports might increase to 90 million, equal to pre-pandemic levels0, since the tourism sector is likely to recover significantly next in 2023.

He said that the upgrades on the app would improve travelers’ experience at 6 airports in the country.  One of these upgrades is providing e-payment services and privileges and providing convenience to tourists.

This is an important milestone wherein technology, and people’s lives are combined to generate digital transformation in the country’s tourism sector.

The application can display all flight board information at airports. Users may register their flight information before departure and get instant notifications if there are changes.

It also supports cab booking and displays the waiting period at airport check-in counters, security checks, and immigration checkpoints.

Co-developed with Krungthai Bank, the app’s Sawasdee Pay digital wallet will improve the purchasing experience for travelers.

The software also allows users to add credit or debit cards to conduct e-payments to participating merchants.

After completing purchases, users earn AoT points that can be redeemed for benefits or swapped for points at partner shops of the app.

The app also has a “Tourist Help” option that allows users to request police assistance in 6 languages.  These languages are English, Russian, Thai, Mandarin, Korean, Spanish, Hindi, and Japanese.

Users of the app will also have the opportunity to acquire insurance at a discount through Muang Thai Life Assurance.

Mr. Kayon said that more features will be added soon, like exclusive butler services and augmented reality (AR) technologies to assist travelers at airports.
