Today, the first cruise ship since the COVID-19 pandemic arrived in Phuket and docked at Patong port, allowing roughly 800 guests to go on a 1-day sightseeing excursion.
Nanthasiri Ronnasiri, head of the Tourism Authority of Thailand in Phuket, and Phuket Governor Narong Woonsiew boarded the ship to welcome the guests.
The ship, which came from Singapore, has approximately 4,500 passengers and most of them are from Singapore, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, and the Philippines.
It’s the first cruise ship to dock in Phuket after 3 years of COVID-19, according to Nanthasiri, who said that the presence of yachts and cruise ships will help promote Phuket’s tourism because the majority of passengers have high spending power.
In 2019, there are 154 cruise ships carrying 485 598 people arrived in Phuket.
