“Rediscover Thailand” is the new AR or augmented reality that was released through the partnership of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) and Meta. The Tourism Authority of Thailand hopes that the state-of-the-art technology will encourage future travelers to push for environmentally responsible and meaningful travel.

The augmented reality (AR) experience emphasizes some of Thailand’s natural wonders, popular tourist destinations, and distinctive cultural experiences like the traditional Nora dances and Bo Sang Umbrella Village.

Augmented Reality provides an engaging experience that mixes computer-generated information with the real world.

From November 2 through November 30, you may experience 9 creative “Rediscover Thailand” features in person at the Thailand Creative & Design Centre (TCDC) in Bangkok. The exhibition is accessible every day from 10:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. except Mondays

You may also experience the ‘Rediscover Thailand’ effects on your mobile device by visiting their Instagram page @TourismThailand and go the ‘effects’ option.  The effects were jointly developed by META Thailand and local AR developers.

“The collaboration between TAT and Meta demonstrates that we are committed to elevate the tourism industry by creating a tourism ecosystem using new technologies that drive Thailand toward sustainable and high-value tourism. This project will increase the country’s tourist demand and encourage travelers to explore future meaningful travel.”

– Yuthasak Supasorn, TAT Governor

The new AR experience emphasizes Meta’s commitment to assisting local communities and businesses by embracing technology that can help them achieve their goals.

Meta reports that more than 10.3 million have shared over 38 million travel-related posts and comments on Facebook and Instagram in the past 3 months.

By educating social media users about Thai customs and traditions via augmented reality (AR), Thailand may foresee an increase in the number of tourists and an increase in the number of high-quality tourists appreciating Thai culture.

Co-founder of AT agency Holowisp, Pakawat Korsriphitakul said

“The augmented reality (AR) virtual routes will enable people to experience a destination even if they did not go there which includes the location, people, cultures, and traditions.”
