After nearly 5 months after the announcement of the emergency decree that banned international flights in and out of Thailand, Emirates is finally returning to service flights to and from Bangkok and Dubai beginning September 1.

From September 1, Emirates will be servicing one flight to Bangkok from Dubai, departing at 1:50 PM, with a return flight on same day departing at 3:25 PM.

All tourists will be subjected to public health measures both in Dubai and in Bangkok. All inbound passengers are required to take COVID-19 tests, while passengers inbound to Bangkok will need a COVID-19 negative result and fit to fly certificates.

Upon arrival, they will be required to take another COVID-19 test before they move on to their quarantine facilities. There, they will be subjected to two more COVID-19 tests, one at the start of their quarantine period and the other a couple of days before the 14-day quarantine period ends.

Passengers can select between First Class, Business Class and Economy Class when booking airline seats with Emirates.

First and Business Classes have the perk of access to the airlines’ Lounge facility while waiting for their flight to be called. In addition, they have the advantage of Emirates’ Chaffeur Drive service – a limousine transfer service to the airport from their hotel both in Bangkok and Dubai.

All passengers who book a flight from September until October 31 can also take advantage of Emirates’ 30-day COVID-19 cover.

This means that passengers who travel through Emirates can have their medical costs shouldered by the airline in the event that they get infected with COVID-19 31 days after flying with the airline. Passengers continue to be eligible even after they travelled out of Dubai or Bangkok.

To ensure the safety of everyone aboard, passengers are issued hygiene kits upon embarking on the aircraft. This kit contains antibacterial wipes, surgical masks, gloves and hand sanitizers.

With the addition of Bangkok to its destinations, Emirates has expanded its destination network to 78 cities.

Since the government’s relaxation of the international flight ban in July, Thailand has seen 3,671 international flights into the country in that month alone.

Thailand also has allowed the entry of certain groups of foreigners into the country since August as well. These groups include migrant workers, skilled workers for certain industries, and medical tourists, among others.

In addition, a limited resumption of foreign tourism has been announced for October 1, beginning in Phuket. This is part of the Safe and Sealed plan of the government that seeks to revitalize foreign tourism, which provides a significant amount of revenues to local businesses and, by extension, the economy.

Aside from Emirates, local carrier Thai Airways has also announced that it will be servicing flights coming from the countries of Germany, England, South Korea, and Japan, as well as the Special Administrative Region of Hong Kong in the People’s Republic of China beginning end of November.

However, Thai Airways has not yet released actual details of flight departure times.
