An increase in tourist volume is expected in Pattaya this weekend to honor the 70th birthday of His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Bodindradebayavarangkun. Poramet Ngampichet, mayor of Pattaya, expects that 80,000 people would visit Koh Larn island over the four-day royal birthday weekend.
According to the mayor, Pattaya regularly receives over 10,000 visitors every day. Most of the numbers are tourists from India and Vietnam. Poramet predicts that 20,000 visitors per day will arrive at the Bali Hai Pier and board a ferry to Koh Larn, popularly known as Coral Island. The mayor did disclose where and how he come up with the expected figures.
He added that during the holiday weekend, tourists may park their vehicles for free at the pier. Nonetheless, if Poramet’s anticipated tourist numbers materialize, visitors may have difficulty locating a parking place. The multifunctional area at Bali Hai Pier will be converted into a parking lot for up to 200 vehicles.
Before the event, the mayor of Koh Larn inspected the island’s readiness to accommodate such a surge of tourists. The mayor was satisfied with the island’s preparations and reaffirmed that Pattaya City is prepared to ensure the safety of guests this weekend.
