Loy Krathong festival is approaching and tourism authorities are organizing activities in 6 Thai provinces. Loy Krathong, also known as the country’s Festival of Lights, is one of the most important events on the Thai calendar.
The Loy Krathong festival brings people together along rivers, lakes, ponds, canals, and other bodies of water to release lotus-shaped rafts. Krathong or Banana trunks often take the form of a lotus and make it attractive by adding flowers, candles, incense, unique objects, and craft store items.
The floating rafts are believed to represent the “floating away” misdeeds and misfortunes in the past and starting new.
Loy Krathong festival starts on November 8. Below are the schedule of Loy Krathong events and locations:
The Tourism Authority of Thailand said that the upcoming events would “allow travelers to experience the distinct cultural customs of each province.”
