The Phuket Tourism Association is pushing for longer nightclub hours. According to Thanet Tanipirayakit, head of the Phuket Tourism Association, nightlife and entertainment establishments in Phuket, are prepared and ready to stay open until 4 am.

In addition, the association also seeks to approve the extended closing hours of entertainment establishments on Patong beach’s Bangla Road from 2 am to 4 am.

According to Thanet, Bangla Road is a known walking street that is full of clubs and entertainment businesses whose owners agree that operating longer would be advantageous to their business.

The Thai government may consider extending the longer closing time to entertainment facilities across the country. However, this proposal needs approval..

“Patong entrepreneurs have reacted favorably to the plan of longer closing hours and are eager to begin the trial as soon as possible.  However, it still depends on the ministry and officials since this is a legal matter,”

Governor Chadchart Sittipunt supports keeping Thailand’s entertainment establishments up until 4 a.m. He claims that this will end under-the-table transactions, making nightlife safer for everyone.

Officials are aware that certain Bangkok nightclubs remain open until 4 a.m. or longer, as stated by the governor due to the “under the table” agreements that enable them to get away with it, and safety checks are often bypassed.
