Government spokesperson Anucha Burapachaisri said that Thailand had welcomed 11 million visitors this year.

Mr. Anucha said that according to statistics from the Immigration Bureau, the total number of arrivals to the country from January to December 22 reached 11.04 million.

Most of the tourists come from Malaysia (1.81 million), followed by India (923,768), Laos (796,220), Singapore 563,594, and Cambodia (563,594).

5.72 million tourists arrive at Suvarnabhumi Airport followed by Phuket International Airport (1.45 million) and Don Mueang International Airport (904,717).

670,400 tourists arrived via checkpoint in the Sadao while 328,957 arrived via Nong Khai.

According to the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), since the country’s reopening, around 70,000 tourists have visited Thailand daily.

Also,  the country welcomed around 5,000 tourists from Russia in the past few months due to increasing direct flights to Phuket, and Bangkok, and chartered flights to U-Tapao Airport.

Mr. Anucha added that Thailand generated THB 1.5 trillion baht from tourism this year, which is half of the revenue produced in 2019.

The Tourism Authority of Thailand expects that the tourism sector will recover by 80% of its 2019 total value, or 2.8 trillion baht as tourist visits gradually increase and get close to pre-Covid numbers.
