Thailand Triumphs Over Other Countries To Win ‘Best Tourism Country’ in Sweden

The popularity of Thailand as a tourist destination continues to make headlines around the world.

Thailand was named Best Tourist Country at the 30th annual Grand Travel Awards in Stockholm, Sweden, in 2023. The award, organized by TravelNews, was based on a poll conducted by research firm Nordic Bench, which gathered responses from 3,227 Swedish tourists and travel professionals in Sweden.

The Director of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) Stockholm Office, Youngchan, thanked Swedish citizens, travel agencies, tour companies, and airlines for their support and trust in Thailand. She also commended the Thai people for their role in making Thailand a premier tourist destination.

Under the “Visit Thailand Year 2023: Incredible New Chapters” marketing campaign, the TAT Stockholm Office will continue to promote Thailand’s move toward sustainable, experience-based, and responsible tourism. In addition to Thailand’s beaches and towns, the office also aims to encourage Nordic tourists to explore various unique and fascinating tourism alternatives.

Furthermore, Thailand’s 5F soft-power pillars of Film, Fight, Food, Festival, and Fashion will be emphasized in order to provide significant tourism experiences in Thailand. Officials from the TAT Stockholm Office, and the Royal Thai Embassy in Stockholm were present at the event to accept the award.

The Covid-19 pandemic has affected Thailand’s tourism sector, contributing to much of the country’s gross domestic product. Despite this, the Grand Travel Awards 2023 recognizes Thailand’s sustained appeal as a leading tourism destination, calling on stakeholders to promote the country’s distinctive cultural and natural assets.
