Tourists In Thailand Increased As Travel Restrictions Eased

Suvarnabhumi International Airport

International tourists are coming back to Thailand after the country decided to eliminate the pre-flight RT PCR test. Suvarnabhumi International Airport’s daily passenger arrivals almost doubled to 12,000 arrivals, coming through new inbound planes.

Yesterday, the airport is full of international travelers.  They were met upon arrival by authorities and hotel representatives who escorted them to their PRC testing locations.

International travelers entering Thailand through the Test & Go and Sandbox themes are no longer required to provide a negative PCR test certificate issued within 72 hours of their flight’s schedule.

However, it is still required to undergo an RT-PCR test upon arrival and remain in a SHA+ hotel until they receive a negative test result. In addition, they must do an antigen test and submit the results using the Thailand Pass app.

Meanwhile, the time required for RT-PCR testing has improved with findings available within 4 hours following the test. This improvement will reduce the time travelers spend in quarantine hotels and allow more visitors to enter the country.

The quarantine period for unvaccinated travelers has also been shortened from 10 to 5 days, including a day 5 RT-PCR test. Travelers must stay in hotels designated as Alternative Quarantine (AQ). The stay requirement for travelers entering Thailand under the Sandbox plan has been cut from 7 to 5 days.

It is now easier to enter Thailand through the land in the provinces of Satun, Nong Khai, Udon Thani, and Songkhla or via water in the regions of Chonburi, Phuket, and Surat Thani.

The restrictions have been relaxed just in time for the Songkran festival or Thai new year which will start on April 13 and 15.
