According to government spokesperson Rachada Dhnadirek, foreign visitors in Thailand are recommended to download the “Tourist Police I lert u” app, this tool enables them to quickly and conveniently contact the police during an emergency.

To avoid being confused with “police I lert u,” (the Thai version of the app), the tourist version comes in English, Chinese, Korean, Russian, French, German, Arabic, and various Southeast Asian languages.

After downloading the app, visitors can tap on the “request” button to contact the police and then utilize the app to submit information and images of the accident or scene to the police’s “War Room” (1155 tourist police hotline), where officers are available 24/7.

The information will be relayed to the closest police units, who will then provide help without delay.  Meanwhile, officers in the War Room will get in touch with tourists to provide initial assistance and guidance.

“Tourist police I lert u” uses a GPS system so that the police are immediately aware of the tourist’s whereabouts. The application is available for free download on iOS and Google Play store.

The app may be beneficial for travelers who get lost in the forest, victims of a crime, involved in an accident, or lose important stuff.

Here are some reviews from tourists who used the app:

“I made a test call to the police, and they responded within 45 seconds. They spoke excellent English and were very courteous. It also seems to feature GPS tracking. Feels really safe.”

“Really handy application. Since you don’t know what could happen, you can contact the appropriate authorities in case of an emergency. Providing your location, image, and call.”

Foreign visitors may also be interested in downloading the “TAGTHAi Pass” app from the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), which is intended to be a valuable resource for visitors to help them make the most of their time in the country by offering a variety of deals and freebies.

The TAGTHAi Pass is a travel guide that provides recommendations from locals about the top sightseeing activities, spas & massages, restaurants, cultural activities, etc. The app offers tourists travel suggestions and emergency contact information.

Essential Pass is one of the features of the TAGTHAi app. The Essential Pass enables travelers to redeem a free tourist SIM card with seven days of the Internet and a discounted exchange rate at 400 Kasikorn Bank exchange booths nationwide.
