Starting August 5, Vistara Airlines will provide 5 times a week of nonstop flights between Mumbai and Bangkok. 3 of Vistara’s Airbus A320neo aircraft will operate every Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday,
This is the airline’s second service to the capital of Thailand. Vistara introduced direct flights connecting Delhi and Bangkok in 2019. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the service was temporarily stopped, but restarted in March this year.
Vinod Kannan, CEO of Vistara, said that Thailand is a popular holiday destination for Indians…
“Thailand continues to be one of the most popular tourist destinations among Indians, and we are thrilled to launch flights between Mumbai and Bangkok This route has great potential for a full-service airline like Vistara.”
Vistara Airlines will become the 5th airline to operate the route. IndiGo and Thai Airways provide daily flights between Mumbai and Bangkok, while Air India runs this route 2 times per week. Thai Lion Air also links Mumbai to the Don Mueang International Airport in Bangkok.
The goal is to accommodate the growing number of Indian tourists to Thailand. Tourism-wise, India has surpassed China as Thailand’s most important target market, particularly as China’s visitor numbers continue to decline because of the ongoing COVID-19 travel restrictions.
During the first 6 months of this year, more visitors are coming from India than from any other country visiting Thailand. According to the Kingdom’s Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration, more than 10% of the 2.2 million visitors who have visited Thailand so far this year are from India.
